Faced with the Covid crisis, Mix-Image, Lausanne's pop-culture institution, had to make an urgent switch to e-commerce. Geekworkers orchestrated a veritable race against time to develop a complete online shop (WordPress/WooCommerce) in less than two months, capable of integrating more than 10,000 items from multiple suppliers and offering fans an immersive experience.
To meet this exceptional challenge, Geekworkers has mobilised its expertise in agile project management, advanced e-commerce development and complex data integration:
Strategy: Rapid Prototyping and Accelerated WordPress/WooCommerce Development
Precise planning via figma and Loom allowed us to quickly validate the architecture and design. The choice of WordPress and WooCommerce provided a solid, scalable foundation, accelerating the development of essential e-commerce functions (catalogue, shopping basket, checkout, customer accounts).
Strategy: Import automation via Python scripts (Scrapy) and Google Sheets standardisation
The major challenge of integrating the catalogue was solved by developing scripts Python using the Scrapy to extract data from various supplier sources. This data was then aggregated and standardised in Google Sheets before being massively and regularly imported into WooCommerce.
Strategy: Customised design (Elementor/Crocoblock) and rigorous performance optimisation
The user interface has been built with Elementor Pro for a bespoke, responsive design. Read more Crocoblock has been used to add advanced functionality (filters, etc.). Performance has been optimised by WP-Rocket (caching) and Imagine (image compression), ensuring smooth browsing despite the large catalogue.
Strategy: Robust e-commerce foundation and essential marketing/logistics tools
The platform integrates various payment systems (Twint, Visa, Master Card). Key tools such as WooCommerce PDF Invoice, Woo Discount Rules, And Flexible Shipping have been configured for operational management. The foundations of SEO have been laid with Rank Math and analysis via Semrush. Tracking (GTM, GA, Search Console) has been implemented via Site Kit by Google.
The record launch of Mix-Image.ch by Geekworkers was a major success, enabling the company not only to survive the crisis, but also to considerably extend its reach:
